Operator screens for your PLC, built in an afternoon.

El Mirador is a desktop HMI & SCADA builder. Drag industrial widgets onto a canvas, bind them to TwinCAT over ADS or to PostgreSQL, and run the result full-screen on the shop floor.

Features

Everything an operator screen needs

From the first widget to the panel PC on the line - in one app, with no separate runtime to license.

Drag-and-drop canvas

Snap widgets to a grid, resize and rotate them, line them up with rulers and organise screens into pages.

25+ industrial widgets

Tank levels, needle and bar gauges, pipes, LEDs, multi-state lights, selector switches, rotary dials, sliders and more.

Live PLC data over ADS

Browse your TwinCAT symbols and bind them to widgets. Values stream in through ADS notifications; inputs write straight back.

PostgreSQL built in

Connect a database next to the PLC for historian data, recipes or your own application logic.

Users & access rights

Operator logins with group- and level-based rights on every element, so people only see and touch what they should.

Touch-ready runtime

Run full-screen on a panel PC, with an on-screen keyboard for every input field.

AI assistant

Describe the screen. The assistant builds it.

Tell the built-in assistant what you need and it places the widgets, binds them to your PLC symbols and sets them up - you review and fine-tune.

  • Bring your own model: Claude, any OpenAI-compatible API or a local Ollama model
  • Built-in MCP server, so Claude Code, Claude Desktop and Cursor can build screens too
  • The MCP server only listens on your own machine
Assistant Claude

Add a page with level gauges for tanks T-101 to T-104, bound to MAIN.aTanks.

  • Created page “Tank farm”
  • Added 4 tank level widgets
  • Bound them to MAIN.aTanks[1..4].fLevel
  • Added a high-level LED to each tank

Done - the tank farm page is ready. Should I add start and stop buttons for the inlet pumps too?

Ship one file to every panel PC

When the screens are ready, export them as a standalone app. Copy it to the machine, start it, done - no runtime licenses to count per panel.

  • One executable with your screens, logo and colours baked in
  • No license needed on the panel PCs - only the builder is licensed
  • The project is sealed with a signature, so nobody can alter it
  • Reuse widgets across projects with your own libraries

How it works

From blank canvas to running machine

  1. Step 1

    Design

Drag widgets onto pages, style them and group them into cards. Preview exactly what operators will see.

  2. Step 2

    Connect

Point El Mirador at your PLC's AMS Net ID and bind widgets to its symbols - or to PostgreSQL.

  3. Step 3

    Run

Start it full-screen on the machine, or export a standalone app for every panel PC on the line.

FAQ

Questions, answered

What does the beta cost?

Nothing. During the beta El Mirador is free with every feature unlocked - create an account, claim your beta license on the pricing page and download the app.

Which PLCs can it talk to?

Beckhoff TwinCAT, through ADS. A PostgreSQL connection works alongside the PLC for data that lives in a database.

Does it need an internet connection?

Only now and then. The builder checks its license when it starts and keeps working offline for days in between, so isolated plant networks are fine. Exported apps never go online for a license.

Do operator panels need their own license?

No. Export your project as a standalone app and run it on as many panel PCs as you need - only the builder needs a license.

Where are my projects stored?

On your own machine, as project files you can back up, version and share. There's no cloud workspace.

Which operating systems are supported?

Windows and Linux. Downloads for both are on your account page as soon as you have a license.
